New Kevin Durant shoe to honor Native Americans
Kevin Durant's latest edition of signature shoes is set to release Saturday, and this version will pay homage to the Native American community.
The Nike Zoom KDV N7 will be turquoise and black with traces of yellow.
This will be the second time Durant has had a special N7 version of his shoe.
Nike N7 is a project launched by Nike in 2009, and it has raised more than $2 million for Native American and Aboriginal youth sports programs. A portion of those funds have benefited Oklahoma-based groups such as the Native Youth Sports Foundation, which oversees the Jim Thorpe Games and the Ottawa County Boys & Girls Clubs.
“Playing in Oklahoma City has connected me to the mission of Nike N7 and the meaningful impact that it has with Native Americans here and across North America, Durant said in a Nike press release. “The new N7 KDV is very special. I believe in the power of sport to change lives, and I support helping youth in Native American communities experience the positive benefits of being physically active.”
WESTBROOK, DURANT RANKED AS TOP FIVE PLAYERS
A panel of 111 ESPN.com and ESPN affiliated writers and analysts rated each of the league's players to identify the top 30, and the Thunder's Durant and Russell Westbrook both ranked in the top five.
Durant ranked second behind LeBron James, while Westbrook ranked fifth. Chris Paul ranked third, and Kobe Bryant ranked fourth.
The website annually lists its rankings for all NBA players in the summer but concluded the unveiling of an amended and abbreviated list this week.
